1      First ever Military academy that trains and grooms the candidates for all the three wings namely- Airforce, Navy and Army.
2     The Sudan block is known as main building because of the fact that finance for the building of NDA came from a amount donated by Sudan in 1941 in gratitude of the sacrifices of Indian troops in the defence of Sudan during WWII
3      The first batch for NDA training of 190 cadets started in 1949 and working well till date
4     Heavy backpacks is not the regular exercise for NDA aspirants it is just a punishment exercise.NDA trains the students through punishments if student is not getting what is being told.
5     The main prospect behind forming NDA is whether student came from diverse backgrounds adapt themselves and can do training without any problem of culture and diversity.
6     NDA alumni’s are honored everywhere. 12 NDA alumni have been honored. Three with the Param Vir Chakra, and nine others have received the Ashoka Chakra.
7     After three years of study, Cadets are awarded a Baccalaureate degree (a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science)
8.    18 squadrons in the NDA are divided into five battalions.
9.    Our alumni Commander Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to fly into space and was an alumnus of the National Defence Academy. He joined as an IAF cadet in 1966.
10.    National Defence Academy has made “Khaki” as dress code to keep the sense of equality among the cadets
11.    “The hut of remembrance” is the hut constructed by the cadets to remember the sacrifice of the soldiers.
12.    With Indian cadets,  cadets from other nations are trained in NDA.

NDA has changed its motto from “Service before Self” to “Seva Parmo Dharma” in 1951.
